Loneliness is the new epidemic with Forbes highlighting that 73% of Gen Z report feeling lonely sometimes or always. Airbnb wants to combat loneliness by empowering its users to build genuine connections that matter! We were asked to create a digital tool or experience that capitalizes on Gen Z’s online connectivity to deliver meaningful IRL experiences through Airbnb.

Living with a bad roommate
is isolating.
Moving to a new city is already hard enough, let alone dealing with roommate issues on top of that. Too many people struggle with roommate compatibility and sadly everyone has a bad roommate story to share.
We found that many people had rushed into their housing situation which led them to be locked into a 12-month commitment with someone they didn't mesh with.
“I got a roomie for my apartment that I previously rented by myself to help save money. That part has been nice, but, I am truly paying for it in other ways. He signed the 12-month lease, I cannot tell him to peace out.”
There is a gap in connection.
Most services that currently exist focus on convenience. While companies have gotten better with the safety aspect of finding a roommate there is still a lack of connection-forward approaches. If living together is the only way to figure out if you mesh well, wouldn’t it be great if you could try it out before you had to commit?
Not meshing with your housemates leaves you feeling uncomfortable and lonely in your own home. Home is supposed to be a safe haven but it’s also a space where some of our best memories and relationships are made.
We need a service that makes compatibility the priority. So, let’s change that!
